Youth

The Staffordshire Surge youth and junior teams were formed in 2005 (Easter) by Manager of senior team John Farmiloe and Coach Geoff Lowe; with the first youth players being Chris Thompson and Tom Pilling. The youth where aided with the help of a grant from Stoke-on-Trent Community Chest (part of the Neighborhood Renewal Fund).Youth Team first played a 5 on 5 flag tournament in winter of 2005. Since then players have been developed to continue the youth development after they have leave to move on to senior football. With the support of coach geoff lowe, Chris Thompson became the country's youngest level 2 coach at 18. Combined with this grant and the additional support from the Royal Mail Sports Foundation the club can now provide young players with helmets, shoulder pads and uniform, as well as training equipment that allows the coaches to teach the sport with the emphasis on playing the game safely. The juniors first player was a Sam Parkinson and Richard ????? being under 16 a younger side was developed. the juniors had there first game in **th April. With that being a full contact 5 on 5 tournament.

The age groups catered for are: junior (age 14 – 16) and youth (age 16 – 19) in the Stoke-On-Trent area.
