Audio sample? ='I Don't Live Today' is a song, written and first performed by famed
guitar istJimi Hendrix . The original (mono only) version appeared on his debut album "Are You Experienced", released throughout most of the world (except USA & Canada).Hendrix often announced to his audiences that the song was "about the American Indian." The strong nature of the lyrics ("Feel like I'm livin' at the bottom of a grave") suggest a struggle against oppression. The song received limited airplay in the USA during the late 1960s and 1970s.Jimi often turned the song on its ear in concert; live performances often featured a middle section where Hendrix produced the feedback and distortion for which he was so famous. Sometimes, he would include a few notes of "The Star Spangled Banner" amidst the tortured sounds coming from his Stratocaster.
"I Don't Live Today", is also included on Hendrix's 2003 album "". The live Berkeley version plays 5:26, while the studio recorded version on "Are You Experienced?" plays only 3:55. The studio version also includes the spoken statement by Jimi: "There ain't no life nowhere."
