Vefja ehf., formed in
2000 , was a pioneersoftware company in theInternet sector and a successful player on the Icelandic Web Content Management Market. Vefja ehf. was a start up within the Landsteinar Group, a leading Retail Solution Provider developing solutions in Navision ERP (nowMicrosoft Dynamics ). The real breakthrough for Landsteinar International was when an agreement was signed withIKEA ,Baugur andAdidas in 1999 to develop a warehousemanagement system in Navision to be used by all these companies. Landsteinar was nominated as the Icelandic Marketing Company of the Year in 1999 and received the President of Iceland Export award in 2001 .Vefja ehf. was formed by a group of four very young individuals, who had just recently graduated from college: Kjartan Fridriksson] , Sveinn Benediktsson, Kristjan Freyr Einarsson and Eirikur Torfason. The fifth individual was Jon Orn Gudbjartsson, VP of sales and marketing at Landsteinar International. Each individual had a 10% share in Vefja and Landsteinar had 50%. The Content Management System Vefja developed is WebThor, developed in
ASP and running onMS SQL . It is now sold and maintained by Betri lausnir ehf. inIceland .Vefja ehf. emphasized on developing web service or middle ware enabling Navision to replicate data to the Internet and was the first company in Iceland to provide such solutions. This was the basis for the companies' success as Navision was the most spread ERP solution in Iceland.
Vefja ehf. was merged with Hugvit hf. (GoPro Group), on
January 1 2001 . At Hugvit the WebThor CMS was taken into further development and came to be the most popular Content Management System in Iceland for a while, used by companies such as B&L (Hyundai ,Renault ,Rover andBMW ), Bernhard (Honda andPeugeot ), theIcelandic Coast Guard , Femin.is and many more.ister companies
