Notable_instruments =Leo Watson (
27 February 1898 –2 May 1950 ) was an Americanjazz vocalese singer ,drummer ,trombonist andtipple player born inKansas City, Missouri , perhaps best-known as a band member ofThe Spirits of Rhythm which includedguitarist Teddy Bunn . Watson also worked shortly with a variety ofbig band s, including those ofGene Krupa ,Artie Shaw andJimmy Mundy .Watson also provided the voice for Prince Chawmin' in the infamous "
Censored Eleven " cartoon "Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs " (dir.Bob Clampett , 1943). However, he went uncredited in that cartoon because of primaryvoice artist Mel Blanc 's contract agreement for solo credit. In a 1969 "Funnyworld " interview conducted byMichael Barrier andMilton Gray , Bob Clampett recalled Watson's name erroneously as "Zoot Watson"; thus, Leo Watson himself went uncredited for his work in the cartoon for almost forty more years. Finally, Australianvoice artist andanimation historian Keith Scott discovered his name correctly in theWarner Bros. Archives.
