The trophy was established after a decision on10 May 2007 by the Welsh and Australian rugby unions to celebrate the 100 years of Test rugby between the two sides. Australia are the current holders.The prize was awarded for the first time in the forthcoming series in Australia, with the first Test on

Australia won the inaugural James Bevan Trophy test match 29–23 on Saturday
26 May 2007 at the Telstra Stadium in Sydney. They followed this up the following weekend with a whitewash 31–0 victory at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.26 May 2007
This was the first match which Australia scored last minute when Wales could have beaten the Aussies in Australia for the first time since 1969, Australia won 29 - 23
