- MTOP
Multi-Technology OSS Program (mTOP) is a technical program within the [http://www.tmforum.org TeleManagement Forum] that provides interface definitions for the management of telecommunications networks. It includes both service and network management. The mTOP vision is to provide single interface environment that supports all necessary management operations across the entire range of properties for a converged resource and service continuum.
As a program mTOP has primarily steering and architectural responsibility. The work is carried out in project focusing on various aspects. Key products (standards documents and other collateral) that have delivered by the working project teams are MTNM and
MTOSI .mTOP Products
Multi-Technology Network Management (MTNM)
MTNM is a
CORBA -based interface between a Network Management System (NMS) and an Element Management System (EMS). It support fulfillment and assurance for network resources.Multi-Technology Operations Systems Interface (MTOSI)
MTOSI is an SOA based interface to be used between Operations Systems (OSs) in a telecommunications management environment. See
MTOSI for more information.mTOP projects
mTOP resource management
mTOP resource management covers fulfillment and assurance for resources such as ports (known as Physical Termination Points or PTPs), equipment, equipment holders, managed elements, topological links and SubNetwork Connections (SNC). As of March 2007, mTOP RM supported management of SONET/SDH, Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM), ATM, DSL, Frame Relay, connectionless networks (such as Ethernet) and control plane based networks.
mTOP Service Management
As of March 2007, mTOP service management included support for service activation, service ordering and service inventory management.
