Győr-Moson-Sopron county,Hungary .ightseeing
The village is famous for its
Premontre provostry namedSaint Jakob . The provostry was founded in1251 by count Nagy Móricz. In the monastery premontre nouns inhabited it from1526 till1577 . After the Turkish wars Clarissa nouns came to the monastery from Nagyszombat, north Hungary. They rebuilt the church in barock style. Later the church became the parochial church of the village. The church is a beautiful example of the brick architecture from the Árpád age Hungary. One nave is built and closed with simple apsis, and two towers rule the western facade of the church, as it is regular in many cases in Hungary. It has a romanesque western doorway with tympanon. The painting of the main altar shows Madonna with mantle, a rather popular iconographical topics.
