radio station inTryon, North Carolina . WTYN first went on the air in1954 , on 1550 kHz. For the first 30 years Ace Rickenbacker was a well known fixture. WTYN mostly played variety, news, etc. In1981 WTYN moved to a more hit orientedTop 40 format. Ace Rickenbacker was still the morning man. Others came in for the various shifts, like Brother Bill Prather, Chris Smart, Jay Nolan, Mark Pellet, Dave Lyons, Chuck Finley, and Bob and James Henson. In1984 after many years of planning, WTYN moved to 1160 with 10,000watt s during the daytime, and 500 at night.External links
