Jaffa ofNazareth ", also Yafa, Yafia or Yafi _he. יפיע ) is an Arab local council located in theLower Galilee ,Israel . It forms part of themetropolitan area ofNazareth , also anArab locality. Declared a local council in 1960, Yafa had a population of 16,200 in 2005, approximately 70% of whom areMuslim and 30% Christian.Yafa has been identified as the ancient town of Japhia, mentioned in the
Book of Joshua as a border town ofZebulun .
