Capillaro (1972) is a German photographer born in Baden-Baden (Germany).
The
Hamburg artist, Capillaro, shows extraordinary views from Hamburg – Paris – and New York. In the last couple of years he concentrated on the three major metropolises of the world. Capillaro, who is very successful and respected all over Europe, focuses on New York. His artwork can be seen on large format diasec prints just likeAndreas Gursky ,Thomas Ruff , andCandida Höfer , which gives the images depth and luminance.Capillaro’s artwork reminds the visitor ofAlfred Stieglitz or evenAndreas Feiningers artwork, who are both famous for capturing New York like never someone has done before. His images are usually monochrome, pure and not manipulated or stiched. The artist is an old-school photographer and he is still using analogphotography , which is rarely seen nowadays.Capillaro doesn’t work spontaneously. Instead, he examines every set or location with precision and accuracy before he releases the shutter. He creates different kind of images in his mind. In general the installations of his pictures take up most of the time. It’s not only the installation itself, which allows the artist to warp reality, but also his virtuous mind. Combined with this and a special and unique technique he is able to capture the cities, like it was never done before. The combination of his virtuous mind and his outstanding technique allows him to create outstanding pictures from all over
Paris ,Hamburg andNew York .The artist Capillaro has a very unusual biography and he is not like any of the other millions artists you can find in Chelsea. He is sort of unique. Capillaro was born in
Baden-Baden ,Germany . In his real life he is a full-time anesthesiologist, with a doctoral degree, who works in the famous clinic in Hamburg. During his medicine studies and his college life, photography evolved as a second passion and now became a major part in his life. He always financed and organizes his exhibition on his own. He is involved in every aspect of his exhibition and leaves nothing to his own. It’s not only the architectural theme, which is in the focus of Capillaro’s work, it’s also the virtuous use of space, perspective and time, which gives each picture dynamic. Sometimes the visitors get banned by the astonishing large format views. He allows the visitors to have a look from their cities at a different angle, cause sometimes a two dimensional view seems to be three dimensional and almost real. The large format photography absorbs the visitor right into the picture.
