Herbert Haydon Wilson (
February 14 ,1875 –April 11 ,1917 ) was a British polo player who competed in the1908 Summer Olympics .Youngest son of Sir Samuel Wilson, of Ireildoune, Victoria, Australia, and of Lady Wilson, of 77, Marine Parade, Brighton. Served in the South African Campaign (twice Mentioned in Despatches).
He was a member of the British polo team "Roehampton", which won the gold medal.
Wilson was killed in action during the
First World War , serving as a captain with theRoyal Horse Guards nearArras . He was buried in theFaubourg D'Amiens Cemetery nearby.
