Kyle May (born 7 September 1982 in Carlisle, England) is a Semi Pro Defender with Conference North side Workington. May started his career with home town club Carlisle United as a youngster. He moved to Gretna in 2002 along with several other Carlisle fringe players. May made 28 first team appearances, mostly during the 2003/04 season. In July 2004 he was loaned out to Workington AFC in the Unibond Premier Division along with fellow Gretna players Gary Cohen and Mark Eccles. May played 22 games as a loan player and he was transferred permanently in the January 2005 transfer window on a three year contract. May firmly established himself as a Key Player for Workington during the 2004/05 campaign picking up the player of the season award. Workington were promoted to the Conference North at the end of the season, May scored one of the penalties in play off final shoot-out. ] . Following Steve Birks's Departure to Newcastle Blue Star May was named as the Club's new captain by Manager Darren Edmondson.

Goal Scoring Luck

May had a superb 2005/06 season but still lacked his elusive first goal for the club. May developed a knack of scoring goals that would be then disallowed. During the 2005/06 season he scored a 40 yard lob at Hednesford Town which the linesman did not see had crossed the line, later in the season he scored a legitimate goal at Lancaster City which was then chalked off due to a floodlight failure causing the game to be abandoned. He also netted an equalising goal against play-off chasing Stafford Rangers but this was ruled out as the Referee's assistant adjudged Craig Johnston's cross had gone out of play. His luck seemed to continue in the 2006/07 season. He scored against Stalybridge Celtic at Borough Park, this 'goal' however was awarded to fellow defender Darren Edmondson after a photograph proved Edmondson's initial shot had crossed the line. Kyle's luck changed on 5th September 2006 when he scored two goals in Workington's 2-0 win over Vauxhall Motors at Borough Park ended his 102 game drought for Workingtoncite news
