Career

"Korben"

Korben (i.e., Erin Noel Gerber, vocals, piano; and Chad Christian Gerber, guitar, synth, background vocals) was formed in Billings, Montana in 2002, and first performed for their class at Montana State University-Billings. Their music is most commonly heard on college radio, satellite radio, web radio, and standard broadcast radio. In 2003 Korben relocated to Los Angeles, where they began developing their signature sound in Stones Throw Records recording artist Aloe Blacc's home studio. They released an EP that received attention from Sony Records, Capitol Records, Thrive Records, and Hollywood Records, but ended up signing with Studio City, California independent label, 3D People Records. Shortly after, they released their debut album Steady Fools.Korben has recorded with members of Guns N' Roses, Toto Toto (band), The Georgia Satellites, Aloe Blacc, performed live on, and guest hosted Music Plus TV's; Ten Deep, interviewed on UK Sky Digital Network , and done several live studio performances for radio stations across the U.S. In December of 2007, band members officially parted ways due to irreconcilable differences. Guitarist Chad Gerber is currently working towards the release of his debut album with newly formed band The Suicide Denial with latest drummer from Korben Chad McKinsey.

"Steady Fools" (2006-Current)

"Steady Fools" was written from the emotions Chad and Erin experienced through a tramatic event that lasted three years. They combined this with the irony that seemed to accompany them during their worst moments, along with what they observed in every day hurting people. Chad Gerber produced the album, which was recorded at The Sound Wave in Santa Monica, California, and Studio Atlantis in Los Angeles, California. The album was received with critical acclaim in the UK and United States.

The Meaning of Korben

According to several radio interviews done with Korben, Erin and Chad are the only ones who know the true meaning of the name. In the beginning Chad created it as a type of puzzle, or clue, that only Erin knows the answer too. They did this to conceal a personal message that they did not feel like sharing till they were ready. In doing so, the mystery of the meaning has drawn theories that the name is of Hebrew origins, or based on the character Korben Dallas from the 1997 blockbuster The Fifth Element.

It has recently been noted that the name Korben actually originates from the word "broken". Band members Chad and Erin agreed on scrambling the letters to create the band name, though the idea was originally formulated by Chad.
