Kamal Shaltout

Kamal Hassan Shaltout (born April 18, 1934 in Alexandria, Egypt) is an internatonally recognized interior designer. Kamal graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Décor Department, at Helwan University in 1961 and received his Ph.D. from Rome Academy in Italy. In addition, Kamal has earned many other diplomas in art, architecture, and design.

Kamal was Head of Décor Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts at, Helwan University, as well as seconded teacher at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Kuwait. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private and state collections. Examples include designs of the Kuwait pavilion in the (ITU) exhibition in 1980 and commissaire of exhibition staged in the Sultanate of Oman in Muscat in 1990.

Awards

* Grand prize for oil painting, in the Open Competition of Fine Arts Academies of, Italy, 1973.
* Gold medal and a certificate of appreciation and special financial grant for work of art (Adam and Eve).
* Grand Prix for etching on the zinc in the Open Competition for Etching on Zinc, Rome, Italy 1974.
* Gold medal and certificate of appreciation for substantive work on behalf of Rome (Rievocazione).
* First prize in the General Exhibition titled (the Captive), Kuwait 1996.
