Sir Alfred Brunwell Thomas (1868-1948) was an
architect born inVirginia Water ,Surrey who trained atWestminster School of Art and became an exponent of theBaroque Revival , a style of architecture prevalent for public buildings in the early years of the 20th century.In 1906, he was made a fellow of the
Royal Institute of British Architects , knighted byKing Edward VII , and also designed two more public buildings: town halls inWoolwich in South EastLondon , and the city ofBelfast .
