imdb_id = 03818696 Singaravelan (film) is a Tamil language film starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role of the protagonist. The film also starred Khushboo, Goundamani, Mano, Vadivelu, Charlie, Manorama, Jaishankar, Nizhalgal Ravi among others.

The film was one of the major hits of 1992 and has since attained the status of one of the most-talked about comedies in Tamil cinema, owing to many classic scenes involving Kamal Hassan and his four friends played by Mano, Goundamani, Charlie and Vadivelu.

The film revolves around a young man (Kamal Hassan) living in a village with his mother. He gets to know that his mother was estranged from her brother's family owing to her marriage with his father. She tells him that while her brother and his wife met with a fatal car accident soon after, they have a daughter (Khushboo) who since grew up in the city of Chennai. She hands him a photo of a baby Khushboo and asks him to track her down and marry her.

Accordingly, Kamal sets out for the big city and heads for his friend Mano's house who is living with his 3 friends - Goundamani, Charlie and Vadivelu. The four help him in his endeavor and the consequent adventures form the rest of the story.

Plot

The movie starts with Kamal Hassan working in the fields to the song "Sonnapadi kelu..makkar pannatha".He returns home after work at fields where his mom has a mission waiting for him. She would want Kamal to go to Chennai from his village ,find kushboo, and mutually fall in love with her.She gives him a photograph of Kushboo. Unfortunately, the picture was taken when she was only seven years old, and kamal is puzzled about how he could find the lady. However, he packs to chennai with two huge bags of dry fish, apart from basic neccesities. When he arrives at Chennai,he is hawked by auto-rickshaw men; and one of them manages to take kamal to his auto.The automan, however, is not aware of the two bags of dry fish kamal had. When kamal boards the auto with the stinky bags, the automan started vomiting uncontrollably. He drives kamal to Mano's home, however. Mano lives with three more roommates: Charlie,Vadivelu and Goundamani. Kamal greets them and explains his mission. All of them find the reason weird but still offer to help him.

The next day, they visit a computer centre and generate an image of the teen age kushboo. He tries to find her in the city but chennai proves to be too big for him.Bored,he and his friends visit the beach to think for a plan. Surprisingly, they find kushboo playing volleyball there. Someone hits the ball into the sea and kushboo, who goes to fetch the ball, starts to drown. Kamal jumps to action and saves a fainted kushboo, only later realising that she is a trained swimmer.
