Boiko Zvetanov is a
Bulgaria n singer. The tenor studied at theBulgarian Music Academy in his native city ofSofia with Professor Hadjiev and was taken on as a soloist with theSofia National Opera as early as1982 .He began his career with major roles in
Verdi operas such as the Duke inRigoletto , Foresto in Attila and Radames inAida , also Lindoro in Rossini's Italiana in Algeri, Fernando inDonizetti 's La Favorita and Pollione inBellini 's Norma. He was equally successful from the beginning as a singer in concerts andoratorio s. Zvetanov continued his studies with Boris Hristov inRome , Prof. G. Lehmann and Margarita Lilova inVienna , also with Carlo Bergonzi at theVerdi Academy in Busseto. Alongside his many performances in his home country, he has made guest appearances inGermany ,Austria ,Italy ,Switzerland ,Netherlands ,France ,Spain ,Portugal ,Denmark ,Sweden ,Hungary , theCzech Republic andRussia . He has also won prizes in international singing competitions. Since1991 he has been a member of the ensemble of theZurich Opera House. Other roles in which Boiko Zvetanov has excelled include interpretations of Lenski inTchaikovsky 's Eugeny Onegin, Alvaro inVerdi 's La Forza del Destino, the Italian Singer in theRosenkavalier and in Capriccio byRichard Strauss , Arnoldo in Rossini'sWilliam Tell , Rodolfo inLa Bohème , Pinkerton inMadame Butterfly , Luigi in Il Tabarro byPuccini , Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur byFrancesco Cilea , Gualtiero in Il Pirata byBellini , Sobinin in Glinka's A Life for the Czar, Riccardo in Un Ballo in Maschera byVerdi and Edgardo inDonizetti 'sLucia di Lammermoor . In year2000 Mr. Zvetanov recorded a CD production for MMO Music Group with the orchestra of theSofia National Opera under the direction ofNayden Todorov .
