Iraj ("Hossein Khaje Amiri"), was born in 2nd day of January, year 1932, (Persian: یازدههم دی ماه، سال 1311 خورشیدی ) in
Khaled Abad (Persian: روستای خالد آباد) a small town located 55 kilometers, west ofKashan ,Iran . He began his musical career at the age of 6 by practicing traditional Persian singing ("Avaz") under his father. According to the Masters of Iranian Music book, Iraj’s grandfather was a special singer forNasereddin Shah , a king of theGhajar dynasty.He moved to Tehran for further school education. A while after he was introduced by Hamid Vafaadaar to a master named Ostaad Sabaa for learning Persian classical music which it was lasted for 2 years.
Iraj’s professional career started when Ostad "("Master" in Persian language)" A. Sabaa introduced him to the Iranian government operated radio station at the age of 14. He then joined the more classical Persian music program called Golha and worked with masters such as Tajvidi, Yahaghi, Malek, Shahnaz, Khaleghi, Khaledi, Sharif and Kasaiee. He brought with himself a new pleasant style of singing to the Persian Clasical Music as well as Persian pop music. His voice was adored by the majority people of Iran which they used to hear his songs in many Persian movies, specially with collaboration Of Mohammad-Ali Fardin "(a very popular actor in Iran during the decades of the 1960s and 1970s)". According to Ostaad Banaan "(a legendary Persian vocalist)", Iraj’s voice is extraordinary and incomparable.
During those years Iraj also joined Iranian Royal Air Force and became LIEUTENANT COLONEL at the time of being pensioned from the army.
He lives in Iran, has five adult children "(3 boys and 2 girls)". The youngest son, now in his twenties, called
Ehsaan Khaaje Amiri (Persian: احسان خواجه اميری) who is a young singer as well.Many of Iranian people truly believe that Iraj's voice and his singing style should be considered to be one of the greatest of all, up to the present moment in the history of Persian Music.
