532 (Card Game)

532 (pronounced five-three-two) is a card game popular in Sri Lanka. This game is played with three people using a subset (7 through Ace of all suits) of the 52 standard playing cards. This set is identical to 304.

The basics

This is a game which can be played by three players. The the players have to collect many tricks as they can. The game is played with the cards of the common western card pack. This game is played with the following cards A,KING,QUEEN,JACK,10,9,8,7. This is the order of the cards value.A is the most valued & 7 is the least valued one. the other cards are called as points cards which can be used as money in this game.

Dealing

The players are not to be teams, they must play on their own.The dealer shuffles the cards and after that the player to the left side of the dealer "breaks" or "cuts" the deck by giving a single shuffle to the cards. This is done to prohibit any cheats done by the dealer while shuffling. After the break the dealer deals the cards counterclockwise to all three players. Then all the cards must be dealt face down.First he puts 5 cards to each players. The first player in counterclockwise to the dealer will look at his cards and call a suite as a trump (from the four suits of hearts, diamonds, spades, clubs). After he calls the trump the dealer will put 3 cards to each & then puts 2 cards to each. After that the dealer will have two cards in his hand. These two are called sand cards and these will be dealt "face up" to all the players. Generally the trump caller will pick these cards and drop two cards which he does not need. The dealer will be rotated cou nterclockwise each game.

Game Play

The Trump means a suit which is used as a weapon to cut down any cards of the game. The game is played to collect most tricks, by playing the highest value card or by "cutting" using a trump to win tricks. The trump caller must collect 5 tricks, The dealer must collect 2 tricks & the other person must collect 3 tricks. There are totally 10 tricks will be taken in a round. The player who takes more tricks than his must tricks will receive points(money) for each extra earned tricks from the player who didn't took his must tricks.

Playing

The trumph caller must put down the first card in the table then the play will go on anti clock wise. After first player drops his card the next one must put the card in the same suite of the last player. at the end the player who put the valued card (A>K>Q>J>10>9>8>7) will collect the trick and he will be declared as the winner of the trick.

Using the trump

In the game if you don't have the suite of the last player you can cut it down by a trump suit. you can use any valued TRUMP to cut.So the Trumph caller will call the suit which contains most valuable and more cards as trumph from his hand. Because he have a big job to collect 5 tricks. If a player cuts down a trick The other player also can over lap with a big trumph if he also don't contain the first players suit."e.g.": if the trumph was called as hearts by the caller, in a trick while you have no diamond suit, it plays on the table you can cut it by a small hearts.

Sand cards

Sand cards are used to play special purpose game named FULL CAUGHT. The other two players than the trumph caller can challenge to take ALL THE TEN TRICKS if they wish to play with a new trumph.They also can use the Sand cards dispose two cards which they do not need. The points for the full caught is systemed as if the person who asked the full caught wins, he will receive the points from the others as their must taken suits or if he loses he will give them the same points.

e.g:if the dealer asks the full caught & wins he will receive 5 points from the Trumph caller and 3 points from the other.

Scoring

Each players will be given 20 points in the beginning and the game lasts until a player loses all of his points. If a player loses all his points at the time the player with the highest points will be declared as a winner.
