George Seward

George Frederick Seward (1840 – November 28, 1910) was an insurance executivecite news|title=Geo. F. He served as "Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary" to China from 1876 until 1880.

Minister to China

Seward, a Californian, was appointed to the position of U.S. Consul in Shanghai on 1861, U.S. Consul General in Shanghai on 1863, and U.S. Minister to China on January 7, 1876 .He presented his credentials to the Chinese on April 24, 1876.
