Sydney Albert Middleton DSO, (February 24, 1884 – 1945) was an Australian rugby union player and rower who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics and in the 1912 Summer Olympics.

In 1908 he was a member of the Australia national rugby union team which won the gold medal. He made 33 Test appearances for the Wallabies between 1908 and 1910, captaining the side in three Tests against the All Blacks in 1910.

In the 1912 Stockholm Olympics he participated as rower and was a crew member of the Australian boat, which was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the eights competition.

He enlisted in the AIF in WWI serving at Gallipoli and in France and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order for bravery in action.
