Rafiella Windsor

Rafiella Keira Windsor, commonly known as Rafi or Fiella, is a fictional character created by M.A. She is the main character and the narrator in the 2007 novel of the same name, written in diary form; Rafiella also appears in another, incomplete story written in third person.

Both Rafiella's mother and biological father are Californian, but due to a fairly pointless conflict that later grew into a larger misunderstanding, her parents divorced. Six months after Rafiella's birth, her mother travelled to Estonia. In Tartu, she met her future next husband, Robert, and as a result, she permanently moved to Estonia with Rafiella. After almost thirteen years of living in Tartu and visiting America every summer, Rafiella's mother suddenly wanted to move back to California, and so the family did. Their flight to Los Angeles is where Rafiella's story begins.

Appearance-wise, thirteen-year-old Rafiella is relatively similar to what other girls her age usually look like, at least considering her height. She stands at five feet two inches and weighs around 100 pounds, although the exact number is not known. Her hair is a red-brown colour, much to her personal dislike, and she constantly whines about her green eyes, instead of which she'd prefer to have a pair of blue ones. She has also mentioned the light freckles covering her nose, which she'd also love to get rid of.

The most distinctive feature of Rafiella's personality is her frequent sarcasm. Whether cynical or not, some sort of irony appears in nearly all of her diary entries. Her humour can occasionally be brutally honest and excessively critical due to her sincere nature. When talking or writing, she tends to ramble a lot and often changes the topic, according to what she feels like discussing. She normally talks a lot and is very lively in conversations, to the point of interrupting and/or annoying others. In the company of her friends, she acts friendly and cheerful, while can also continuously be quiet for hours while busy with a creative activity, such as writing.

Friends

Rafiella's first friend in America is Alec, who she meets on her flight to Los Angeles. They discover a whole lot of coincidences, such as the fact that they're going to attend the exact same class of the exact same school in the city of Long Beach, and quickly become good friends.

At Long Beach, Rafiella's distant cousin, Amanda Entwhistle (commonly referred to as "Panda", a nickname derived from her first name) introduces Rafi to a few of her own friends. A few days before school starts, Rafi meets Libby and Jodelle, who she also befriends quickly. Among her classmates, she finds a whole bunch of people she likes, and after a few days at Long Beach Middle School, the list of her friends is quite long, including Alec, Libby, Jodelle, Gilbert, Vincent, Georgie, Miah, Ryann and Greg.
