Brainline

Brainline

Brainline is a homeschooling educational institution located in South Africa. It offers students school careers in either the standard South African Syllabus (Grade 1 to Matric) or the Cambridge international syllabus (IGCSE and HIGCSE).

Students do lessons and assignments given to them on the Brainine CD and via BrainONLINE, Brainline's website for students. Workweeks for each level of the Cambridge or SA syllabus (eg. IGCSE 1st year) are held throughout the year for each subject on the Brainline Campus. Internally-assessed exams are held throughout the year and the year-end exam is externally assessed by Cambridge or the South African Department of Education (depending on te syllabus taken by the student).

As of August, 2007, there are about 200 students doing the Cambridge syllabus and a few thousand doing the SA syllabus.

Brainline is also widely known under the Afrikaans name "Breinlyn". "Brainline" is often confused with the Brainline SA syllabus, and an errenous distinction is often made between "Brainline" and "Cambridge" (the latter referring to the Brainline Cambridge syllabus).
