- Pellet waggler
A pellet waggler is a small, dumpy, float used used for
fishing . Despite its name, almost any bait can be used on a pellet waggler, not just pellets. It is suited for any small particle baits, and also for larger baits such as meat.Pellet wagglers are typically extremely buoyant, and made out of light materials such as balsa wood, or plastic filled with a low density material. When casting, the pellet waggler will typically bob almost as soon as it hits the surface, contrary to less buoyant floats which will tend to dive some way below the surface before bobbing. Some people believe that this deters the fish less.
Some pellet wagglers come with two rubber sleeves, where the line is fed through at the base. This helps to keep the waggler upright when it hits the surface, creating less of a splash.
Bites on a pellet waggler can be ferocious, depending on how the float has been shotted. When there is less shot on the line, the waggler sits higher up in the water, and quite often the after taking the bait, this helps the fish to hook itself, without the need for a strike. Its also common to weight the waggler so it sits lower in the water, although this is more likely to need a strike in order to hook the fish
