Brandon Sorg

Brandon Sorg (born May 9, 1985) is a photographer and artist based in Chicago, Illinois.

Biography

Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Brandon Sorg was an exceptional student from elementary through high school. This period in his life culminated in his recognition as the valedictorian of his graduating class at Rogers High School in Wyoming, Michigan. While still attending high school, Brandon had the opportunity to take several college level photography classes where his childhood fascination in photography was further fostered. Though expressing interests in a variety of fields, notably physics and engineering, Brandon chose to enroll in Columbia College's photography program in 2003.

Projects

Brandon's photography encompasses the contemplative exploration of the urban ironies within his hometown's landscape while probing into exotic locations such as Istanbul, Turkey. Some of his photographs subtly allude to the paradoxes woven within the ordinary while other images perform an in-depth documentary into social rituals shielded from the public eye. Taking a thought-provoking stance, the images captured throughout his travels reveal well known locations in a unique light, inviting the perceiver to become a part of the interpretations of the image rather than a mere observer.
