Bicoid 3'-UTR regulatory element

Bicoid 3'-UTR regulatory element

The bicoid 3'-UTR regulatory element is an RNA regulatory element of gene expression, consisting of four domains (denoted as II, III, IV and V). It is essential for the correct transport and localisation of bicoid mRNA during oocyte and embryo differentiation, [cite journal | last = Ehresmann C | first = C | year = 2004 | title = Secondary structure of the 3' UTR of bicoid mRNA | journal = Biochimie | volume = 86 | pages = 91–104 | doi = 10.1016/j.biochi.2004.01.002] which has been studied most thoroughly in the development of "Drosophila melanogaster" (fruitfly) larvae.
