Rusty Foster

Rusty Foster, real name Lawrence C. Foster III [ [http://icrs.informe.org/nei-sos-icrs/ICRS?CorpSumm=20020711+F Search Corporate Names ] ] , is the founder of Kuro5hin, and the creator of Scoop, a collaborative media application used by several websites. He is widely known in the weblog community for running a donation drive which netted over US$70,000 [ [http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2002/6/21/10533/6651 The fundraiser ends, and the next stage begins || kuro5hin.org ] ] . However, the Collaborative Media Foundation that Foster promised to set up with the money never materialized, and Kuro5hin.org is hosted for free by sponsors, so it is not known what he did with the money [http://www.aemaps.com/kuro5hin/kuro5hin_6.jpg] .

He is a left-wing activist, and has fought for the independence of Peaks Island, Maine (where he lives) from the City of Portland [Citation

Foster served as the CTO of Armstrong Zuniga, a consulting firm formed by Zúniga and Jerome Armstrong in 2004, but the firm has since been dissolved. Daily Kos continues to operate on Foster's Scoop software, as do many smaller sites [http://scoop.kuro5hin.org] .

He has a wife, Christina, and a daughter, Elinor Rose.
