Andreas Okopenko (Born
March 15 1930 inKošice (Slovakia )) is an Austrian writer.Andreas Okopenko was born as a son of a Ukrainian physician and his mother was Austrian. From 1939, the family lived in
Vienna . After studyingchemistry at theUniversity of Vienna Okopenko was active in the industry. Starting from 1950 he dedicated himself increasingly to the literature. From 1951 to 1953, he created aliterature magazine , in which he published numerous member of the Austrianavant-garde of that time. Since 1968 he lives as afree writer inVienna .Okopenko was, from 1973 to 1985, a member of the
Grazer author meeting ; since 1999, he is a member of the Austrian art senate.Honors
