Glyndwr Jones

Glyndwr Jones

Glyndwr Cennydd Jones (born March 1969) is a Welsh politician.

Glyndwr grew up in Carmarthen and Swansea surrounded by politics. It is over a quarter of a century since his father, Gwynoro Jones, former Welsh Labour MP, fought the Carmarthenshire elections against Gwynfor Evans, then Plaid leader. These experiences, and other campaigning work, helped form his views on Wales and its politics.

Glyndwr has been employed at an international examinations board based in London for over six years. As Head of Qualifications and Standards he works at the interface between education policy and legislative frameworks, with responsibility for the organisation's standing with government education authorities in the UK and overseas. Much of his time is spent reviewing policy and articulating the strategic position of the company at negotiations.

Previous employment at an independent Schools Inspection Agency based in Llandarcy, which reports on behalf of Estyn, gave him significant insights into quality issues concerning schools and the curriculum in Wales. He also has extensive lecturing and teaching experience, having worked prior to 2000 in a range of education settings.

His passionate interests include current affairs, world history and sport. He is also an accomplished jazz musician, having performed professionally during his mid- twenties.
