Baseball career

Smith attended Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast, Maine, where he made Midcoast North all-star Left fielder and Right fielder. In 1994, his junior year of college, Smith took a job as the "sports guy" for Los Angeles modern rock radio station KROQ-FM. Smith has said that his nickname dates back to college, when he had a bit of a gambling problem.

Music business

After he graduated college, Smith left KROQ-FM to work at Polygram Records and later Dreamworks Records. Between 1998 and 2003, in an effort to pay back his student loans, Smith again took up radio work with KROQ-FM in tandem with his employment with Dreamworks.

Return to radio

He returned to radio full-time in 2004 when KROQ-FM program director Kevin Weatherly offered him a more prominent role in the station's morning show and the title of music director for the station. In 2006, KLAC AM-570 in Los Angeles lured Smith away from KROQ-FM to host "The Lakers Zone" prior to and following every Laker game. Soon after beginning his duties hosting the Lakers pre- and post-game shows on their local flagship station, Smith also lent his voice to a new KLAC programming venture. On January 8, 2007 Smith began co-hosting The Petros & Money Show, which currently runs Monday-Friday from 4pm to 7pm.[1] On January 20, 2009, The Petros & Money Show went from a L.A.-based show to a nationally distributed show on Fox Sports Radio.

Smith currently calls play-by-play of NFL and college football radio broadcasts for Compass Media Networks.
