Cashola

Cashola

Cashola is one of the games offered by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL, which also supervises Powerball, Hot Lotto, etc.) and is the only multi-state video lottery game in the United States. It began in 2006.

Cashola is played on linked machines at nine locations; three in Delaware, two in Rhode Island and four in West Virginia. The minimum jackpot is $250,000; it is paid in 30 annual payments; winners can select the cash option within the next 60 days. The top prize has exceeded $3.7 million (annuity.) The first 18 jackpot winners (unlike traditional lottery jackpot games, the grand prize cannot be split among winning machines) all chose the cash option, including the June 15, 2007 winner of the game's largest prize. The most recent jackpot winner was on February 28, 2008; it was on a machine at Rhode Island's Twin River.

To win the jackpot, the maximum amount of $2.25 must be wagered for that spin. The themes for the Cashola slots vary by machine (e.g. Kingdom of Pharohs.) Even the minimum denomination differs (there are penny and nickel Cashola machines.)

Depending on the state, the minimum age to play Cashola is either 18 or 21.
