Eveready East Africa

Eveready East Africa is a remnant of the historic Anglo-American Eveready company. It was founded in 1901 as the 'American Electrical Novelty and Manufacturing Company Ltd'. Its export subsidiary was called B.E.R.E.C. and formed in 1906. Both firms also had factories in Canada and the United States. Eveready also had a stake in Ireland's P. R. Mallory and Co Inc after World War II. Eveready and B.E.R.E.C. also made torches, radios and occasionally even televisions during the 1950s and 1960s. Both firms were later bought out by Energizer Holdings. Eveready abandoned production in the UK in 1980 due to falling sales.
