Dr. Wendy Lynn Cerny is Program Coordinator for the Center for Wound Healing and Tissue
Regeneration of theUniversity of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry .The work of the center is not limited to wounds in the oral cavity and includes clinicians and basic research biologists performing research that is translated for use in clinical practice. Dr. Cerny’s research is on molecular analysis of K-ras
oncogene activation and on retinoic acid bindingprotein . She has more than ten journal articles and abstracts to her credit. Dr. Cerny has won theNational Research Service Award several times, and also received the 1982 Virginia Evans Award from the Midwestern Branch of the Tissue Culture Association.Dr. Cerny received her BS in
ecology ,ethology , andevolution from the University of Illinois in Urbana and her PhD intumor cell biology fromNorthwestern University .She is working on building a nationally recognized, interdisciplinary program that will break new ground in the field of tissue repair at the UIC College of Dentistry. Her eventual target is the development of novel therapeutics that will promote healing while reducing
