Dos Anjos was born in Praia, Santiago,Cape Verde, and immigrated to the United States. His early life was spent in Taunton, Massachusetts, where he attended Elizabeth Pole, Parker Middle, and Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School. After moving to Brockton, Massachusetts, he attended Southeastern Vocational. He later transferred to Brockton High School, where he was part of the cross-country team. Dos Anjos graduated from Bridgewater State College, with a major in history, in 2001. In 2008, Dos Anjos received his Associates degree in Liberal Arts Studies from Massasoit Community College. He then attended Hawaii Pacific University in pursuit of a Masters in Diplomacy and Military Studies.

Dos Anjos is currently a teacher in the Brockton School system.
