judge forMultnomah County, Oregon in 1978, serving until 1988. From 1988 to 1998 he was a judge for theOregon Court of Appeals . He was appointed to the Court of Appeals onOctober 24 of 1988 to replaceGeorge Van Hoomissen who had been elected to theOregon Supreme Court .
