Dr Fred Schwarz (born in 1913) is an
Australian physician and political activist who founded theChristian Anti-Communism Crusade . He made a number of speaking tours in the U.S. in the 1950s, and in 1960 moved his base of operations toCalifornia . Fred Schwarz was born in
Brisbane , Australia, as the fourth of eleven children. His father was a Viennese Jew who emigrated to Australia after his conversion toChristianity . Fred Schwarz first obtained dual degrees in arts and science at theUniversity of Queensland in Brisbane, and subsequently went on to complete a degree in Medicine. He specialised as both a general practitioner and psychiatrist, and kept a private practice at home in the Sydney suburb ofStrathfield from 1953.Anti-Communism
In 1940, Schwarz, in the aftermath of a debate with an Australian communist, became compelled to learn all that he could of the ideology, and subsequently became an expert on Communist philosophy. He founded and was the chairman of the
Christian Anti-Communism Crusade based originally in Sydney, and subsequently inLong Beach ,California , and remained in this position until the late 1990s. During his time with the Crusade Schwarz gave lectures and seminars across America on the subject of Communism, placing an emphasis on the role of education in defeating the Communist threat.Dr. Schwarz wrote two books. The first, "You Can Trust the Communists (to be Communists)" was first published in 1960 and sold well over one million copies.
He also wrote "The Three Faces of Revolution" published in 1972.
His autobiography, "Beating the Unbeatable Foe: One Man's Victory over Communism, Leviathan, and the Last Enemy" was published in 1996.
