- Justin Stephenson
Justin Stephenson is a filmmaker from Toronto Ontario. He is the Senior Creative Director and a principal partner at [http://www.tracepictures.com/ Trace Pictures] . Justin has directed commercial work for XM Radio, Gillette, Coca Cola, Sundance Channel, Turner Classic Movies, Fox Sports, Versus, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, National Geographic, and Durex among others.
His commercial work has garnered him numerous international awards including multiple Gold and Silver BDAs. He recently directed an hour long animation/live action children's special for TVO with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra entitled, "How the Gimquat Found her Song". The project won a Banff Rocky award at the 2008 Banff Television Festival for best children's program. In addition, he has directed music videos for Canadian Musicians such as
Rheostatics ,Sarah Slean andRon Sexsmith .His film directing credits include How the Gimquat Found her Song, Citi Sonatina, Tabulae Anatomicae Sex, Five Short Movements as well as mixed media sequences for McLuhan's Wake (for Primitive Entertainment), 100 Films and a Funeral (for Marham Street Films).
In addition to his professional pursuits, Justin is currently doing his MA in Communications and Culture at York/Ryerson university. His ongoing thesis work is about using materialities as an axis for media translation and centers on issues arising from a film project he is working on based on the writing of Canadian poet
