Emodin (from "Rheum emodi", a Himalayan rhubarb)

* 1. A purgative resin, 6-methyl-1,3,8-trihydroxyanthraquinone, from rhubarb and the buckthorn.
* 2. Any one of a series of principles isomeric with the emodin of rhubarb.:aloe emodin (1,3,8-trihydroxyanthraquinone) — a variety of emodin found in Socotrine, Barbados, and Zanzibar aloes, but not in Natal aloes.
