Kent Syverud is Dean of the
Washington University School of Law and the Ethan A. H. Shepley University Professor. From 1987 to 1997, Dean Syverud taught complex litigation, insurance law, and civil procedure at Vanderbilt and at theUniversity of Michigan Law School .After graduating from Michigan Law School in 1981, Syverud clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice
Sandra Day O'Connor during the October 1984 term. Syverud earned a bachelor's degree magna cum laude from
Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1977, a law degree magna cum laude from the University of Michigan in 1981, and a master's degree in economics from the University of Michigan in 1983.
