Bruce Pearl in 2005, when Pearl was hired at theUniversity of Tennessee .Jeter formerly was an assistant coach at the
University of Wisconsin-Platteville , Marquette, UW-Milwaukee, and Wisconsin-Madison. Milwaukee is his first college head coaching position.In 2005-06, Jeter led his team to its third-straight
Horizon League regular season title and the conference tournament title for the school's second straight NCAA tournament berth. In the 2006 NCAA tournament, the Panthers beat Oklahoma before losing to eventual national champion Florida. and its second-straight berth in the NCAA Tournament. He also set a school record for wins by a first-year head coach.Before being a head coach
Jeter played collegiate basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he played under
Bo Ryan from 1987-91. Jeter was team captain when the team won 1991 NCAA Division III tournament and was named to the All-Final Four team. Jeter still holds UW-Platteville records for career field goal percentage (.601) and consecutive starts (89). He then played professionally overseas, withOlivias Futebol Clube in Portugal.He attended high school at
Quigley South Preparatory School and then headed to UW-Platteville, where he earned his business administration degree in 1991. He received a master's degree in adult education from UW-Platteville in December 2001.After his pro career, Jeter worked as an assistant, starting at UW-Platteville, then Milwaukee, then Wisconsin.
Jeter grew up in
Chicago . His dad, Bob, is a member of theGreen Bay Packers Hall of Fame and his brother, Carlton, played basketball alongside Rob at UW-Platteville.Jeter and his wife, Deanna, have a five-year old son, Robert, and a two-year-old son, Jonathan.
