Gosforth Central Middle School is a middle school in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Students usually transfer to Gosforth High School. The school is in the East Gosforth electoral ward.

History

The school was formed when Northumberland County Council changed to the three-tier education system in 1973 [cite web |url=http://web.archive.org/web/20040816090713/www.newcastle-schools.org.uk/gosforthcent/framespage.htm |title=About Us |publisher=Gosforth Central (Hosted at the Internet Archive) |accessdate=2008-04-06] .

The site on which Gosforth Central stands was formerly used by Gosforth Grammar School [cite web |url=http://www.newcastle.gov.uk/tlt/photo/022987.htm |title=Photograph of Gosforth Grammar School, 1952 |publisher=Newcastle libraries service |accessdate=2008-04-06] , until it became Gosforth High School and moved to the other side of the Great North Road in 1973. The Grammar School building was used by Central, until it was replaced in 2004. The school is opposite the Regent Centre business complex and Regent Centre Metro station, with the vehicle entrance on Criston road.

In 2006, OFSTED inspected the school and said "this is a very effective school with some outstanding features". They found that the behaviour and attendance of the pupils were 'outstanding'.
