Paul McCarthy (b. 4 August 1971, County Cork, Republic of Ireland) is an Irish footballer who plays for Ebbsfleet United as a defender. He has made over 500 appearances in the Football League and National Conference, notably for Brighton, Wycombe and Ebbsfleet United.

Career

McCarthy began his career as a trainee with Brighton where he made over 200 league and cup appearances before joining Wycombe for a fee of £100,000 in July 1996.cite web|url=http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=4997|title=Paul McCarthy |work=Soccerbase|publisher=Racing Post|accessdate=2008-06-17] He made over 250 appearances for Wycombe in seven seasons at the club, helping the club to a FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool in April 2001.
