- Adjusted Compensation Act of 1924
Adjusted Compensation Act of 1924 was a veteran Bonus Bill demanded by World War I veterans who organized groups such as the American Legion (which had also been founded by Theodore Roosevelt, Paris in 1919). As a result, the United States Congress passed the Adjusted Compensation Act of 1924 that gave every former soldier a paid-up insurance of policy due in twenty years. President of the United States Calvin Coolidge vetoed the measure, but Congress overrode him. The act calmed the angry veterans of the War who asked for and didn't receive compensation during the Great Depression.
