In his freshman year, Williams would have an immediate impact. Coming off the bench in 30 games, Williams hit 41.8 percent of his 3-point attempts that season, averaging 6.3 points per game.
Williams would become a starter in his sophomore season at shooting guard, appearing and starting in 34 games with averages of 12.4 points and 3.4 assists per game.
In his junior year, Williams moved to the starting point guard position and started all 33 games he appeared in. Williams would earn a spot on the All Big East Third Team with averages of 15.9 points and 4.1 assists per game. He was eventually convicted of driving while ability impaired, although he missed three games.
