Appearance

"Parapeytoyia yunnanensis" was an unusual member of the anomalocarid family. Parapetoyia resembled most anomalocarids, but was unusual in that it possessed short, segmented legs. Parapeytoyia had about 13 pairs of legs, the first 2 pairs being stubby and seemingly useless. The other 22 legs were longer. This gave Parapeytoia an appearance similar to a millipede. Parapeytoyia is considered an anomalocarid because it had 2 appendages for grabbing food, eyes on stalks, a round mouth, and fleshy lobes on the sides of the body.
