radio station broadcasting anadult contemporary format inMuskegon, Michigan . The station is currently owned byClear Channel Communications .Star 108 is Muskegon's affiliate station for Delilah's nighttime love-songs program, syndicated by Clear Channel's
Premiere Radio Networks , which also distributedWhoopi Goldberg 's morning show (also heard on Star 108) [http://www.whoopi.com/splash, Retrieved on 2008/04/21.] . Midday jock Britta Cleveland is a veteran of West Michigan radio, having worked for several years atWSNX -FM, and is host of Star 108's popular "Wayback Lunch," which features retro hits from the 1970s through the 1990s.The station signed on originally around
1988 as WKBZ-FM. In1993 , the station became WMHG, "Magic 108," playingurban contemporary music. In1996 ,WMHG 's calls and format moved to 1600 AM, and 107.9 FM became WSHZ, "Z108," with a satellite-fedhot AC format. In October 1999, "Z108," by then owned by Connoisseur Communications, began dropping hints that a change was coming to the station. Some interpreted the hints to mean that WSHZ would change to a CHR format to challenge former sister station WSNX, particularly when it was learned that Britta Cleveland would be part of the new local air staff. Instead, WSHZ transitioned from hot AC to mainstream AC as "Star 108," with a mostly local (except for Delilah) air staff.
Like many other AC stations, WSHZ plays continuous Christmas music during most of the months of November and December.
