London Buses route 120 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to Transdev London.

History

Route 120 began in 1950, running Monday to Saturday from Hounslow Heath to Hayes Station.

Sunday service was introduced in 1955 to replace former route 120A.

Wthdrawn between Southall and Hayes (Saturdays) in 1958 and Sundays in 1960, this section was replaced by former route 207A as part of the trolleybus replacement program for trolleybus route 607.

Monday to Friday extended from Southall to Greenford Station and Saturdays early am & evenings to Greenford Broadway in 1965.

Withdrawn between Southall and Greenford, this section was replaced by route 105 in 1988.

Extended from Southall to Northolt Station, to replace the discounted route 232 in 24 March 1993. Running from Southall (HW) garage since 1950; using STL's at first, RTL's in 11 October 1950, RT's in 1951, then DMS's in 1978 and finally Metrobuses in 1978.

Southall (HW) closed in 1986 and the allocation was transferred to Hanwell (HL) for short time.

Allocation was transferred to Hounslow (AV) garage in 1987, using Metrobuses, the 120 was one of the five routes in London to gain the first fully accessible low-floor single deckers in 1994, using Dennis Lance SLFs with Wright Pathfinder bodywork.

In 2000, when capacity was increasing and the frequency was increased, brand new Volvo B7TL 10m / Alexander ALX400 (VA) and Plaxton President (VP) were bought to convert the 120 and fellow London United route H32 into low-floor.

In December 2007, buses were leased from First London for use on the route to allow for conversion to ibus.

Accordint to EPTUG, Route 120 has become the most complained about bus route in Ealing. 'Extensive monitoring was carried out confirming that erratic time-keeping and serious overcrowding were in fact commonplace.' [ [http://www.eptug.org.uk/ Ealing Passenger Transport User Group ] ]
