Satiah

Satiah

Satiah (also, "Sitiah, Sitioh;" “Daughter of the Moon”) was an Ancient Egyptian queen, the Great Royal Wife of Thutmose III [Aidan Dodson & Dyan Hilton: The Complete Royal Families of Ancient Egypt. Thames & Hudson, 2004, ISBN 0-500-05128-3, p.140] .

Her mother was the royal nurse Ipu [Dodson–Hilton, op.cit., p.140] . It is possible that her father was the important official Ahmose Pen-Nekhebet [ [http://euler.slu.edu/Dept/Faculty/bart/egyptianhtml/tombs/Tombs%20of%20El%20KAb.htm Anneke Bart: "The New Kingdom Tombs of El Kab / Nekhen"] ] . Satiah died during her husband's reign and Thutmose's next Great Royal Wife was Merytre-Hatshepsut. No children of Satiah are known, though there is a possibility that Prince Amenemhat – Thutmose's eldest son, who died before his father – was her son [Dodson–Hilton, op.cit., pp.132-133,137,140] .

Satiah's titles include: King’s Wife (hmt-nisw), Great King’s Wife (hmt-niswt-wrt) and God’s Wife (hmt-ntr). )] . [Grajetski Ancient Egyptian Queens: a hieroglyphic dictionary Golden House Publications. p.53] .

Satiah is attested in:
* Abydos: The text on an offering table mentions her mother, the “nurse of the god” Ipu. The offering table was dedicated by the lector priest Therikiti. [Porter and Moss Topographical Bibliography; Volume V Upper Egypt Griffith Institute. p.52] .
* Abydos: Bronze votive axe-head(?) (now in the Cairo Museum). The axe-head is inscribed with the name of Queen Sitiah [Porter and Moss Topographical Bibliography; Volume V Upper Egypt Griffith Institute. p.49] .
