Teris is an Icelandic cutting-edge information technology company and leader in the provision of support for the financial services industry. We combine our financial and IT expertise with the reliability and skills of our workforce to deliver our services to many and diverse clients. We strive to extend one-stop solutions to our clients by serving as their information technology division. Teris counts among its clients all The Savings Banks in Iceland, together with other Icelandic banks and financial companies.

Its headquarters are in Kópavogur and currently has about 150 staff members, having doubled in size in the last 2 years.

History

Teris’ predecessor, Tölvumiðstöð sparisjóðanna (The Computer Centre of the Icelandic Savings Banks) was founded in March 1989 by six of the largest savings banks in Iceland together with Lánastofnun sparisjóðanna (The Savings Banks Lending Organization – now renamed Icebank). Other savings banks soon joined the partnership.

Originally the Computer Centre functioned simply as the computer division for the savings banks. Gradually the number of shareholders increased, more finance companies joined the group and the firm expanded.

On March 23 2007 the company changed its name to Teris, to reflect changes in clientele and ownership.

Services

Teris offers its services not only as a dedicated computer department, but also sells software to several financial institutions and companies in Iceland, The Faroe Islands and Norway. In 2007 it signed a contract to use SAS System for many of its solutions.

For many years Teris has operated and supported the deposit and loan system Flexcube from i-flex.

Teris staff provides a consultancy service covering all aspects of IT and its utilization, and guidance on the selection of bought-in software, which they will adapt according to clients’ requirements. Software development is a large component of its operations.

In 2006 Teris gained certification of conformance with the international Standard ISO/IEC 27001:2005 on information security management. This certification is confirmation that Teris satisfies all requirements of the Icelandic State Financial Supervisory Authority on the administration of IT systems for financial companies, and is at the same time a major factor in the ongoing reinforcement of security in the processing of data belonging to Teris’ clients.The management of networks, systems and databases, the hosting of servers, backup provision, as well as general support of Teris systems make up the core operation of the
