Royal Engineers Museum

The Royal Engineers Museum and Library is a military engineering museum and library in Gillingham, Medway, Kent, England. It tells the story of the Corps of Royal Engineers and British military engineering in general. The Library was founded in 1813. The Museum and Library received 'Designated' status for its entire collection in 1998 (i.e. it was recognised as having an outstanding collection). It is one of only three military or regimental museums in the country to hold this status.

The RE Museum and Library hold over 500,000 objects relating to the history of the Corps of Royal Engineers and the development of military engineering. The collection and museum galleries tell the story of the Corps and covers such areas as:

Aeronautics, Bomb Disposal, Camouflage, Civil works, Diving, Electrical (Searchlights), Forestry, Field (or Combat) Engineering (airborne, amphibious, armoured, commando, Queen's Gurkha, tunnelling), Gas Warfare,Military Works, Photography, Postal & Courier, Quarring, Royal Engineers Band,Submarine Mining, Survey, Telegraph and Signals, Transportation (Railways, Ports).
